{Video} Core Stones VS Hot Stones

Your pain relief is my business.  Finding the most effective products and tools to enhance your healing process and experience here at Relaxation Works is a HUGE goal of mine.  These hot stones in particular help me as the massage therapists apply a different type of pressure and myofascial release.  They are part of my proven system to get you out of pain fast.  My intention is to offer pain relieving massage treatments that also address the stresses we have in our lives.  Core stones do that.  They feel yummy and delicious with their heat and softness of the stone as well as being extremely therapeutic with the amount of pressure that can be applied.   Watch the video below to understand why we use core stones in your massage sessions.  It’s just another way that we can improve your massage experience and provide a complimentary service.  Enjoy!

This lavender essential oil is 100% pure.  It is very important that you use a reputable company that does not use fillers or chemicals in their products.  I personally use these oils in my massage practice and personal life and have had wonderful results with them.

Why I can’t stand blogging

entrepreneurstickynote 300x300 Why I cant stand bloggingI wanted to let you in on a few personal and guarded secrets that I don’t let many people know about simply because I’m embarrassed, don’t want to give the problem attention and certainly don’t want to admit publicly.  Blogging, speaking methodically and coming up with systematic ways of doing just about anything in life is a challenge for me.  There is a disconnect many times when I am trying to learn something new or implement a new “something” in my life.  This could be a new blog post, a new way of organizing my office, remembering the shortcut to my favorite massage therapist in East Providence whatever it is, there is usually some sort of internal struggle.
I took this picture of my computer to show you how I came up with a solution to spelling a word I need to consistently use and CONSISTENTLY spell wrong.  I spell it wrong so many times that for the last 5 months or so I have to keep goggling the word just to get it correct.  For many of you this is just a word and not a big deal, but to me it means I keep failing at remembering the spelling of a simple word I use daily.  Every time I try and spell this word I can never spell it right.  I must use this word at least 5 times a week if not more.  If you add up all the extra time spent goggling it, retyping it, remembering how to use it, forgetting the rest of what I was originally typing etc. that adds up to a yearly total of almost 4 and a half hours of frustration, ON JUST A WORD.

Now remember I don’t only struggle with the spelling of this word I also struggle with grammar, spelling in general, driving directions, speaking clearly and creative good content that is engaging and easy to read.  That is a whole bunch of hundreds of hours a year….too much for me to want even think about!  I am telling you this because I see many of my clients struggling with their pain and stress levels on a DAILY basis.  Yes daily!  I see how jobs, life, relationships and even themselves create a stressful living environment.

So what did I do to change this problem?
In reality the word entre-pre-neur is a metaphor for my personal struggles in life.  It’s a challenge that I will always have no matter what, it is a part of me.  I may be able to improve my spelling skills, use navigation to get me to the places I want to be, use video to get my words across rather than typing them but it will be a long while until it come easy for me.  I don’t see a spelling B in my near future.

What I did to find a solution is look at what I COULD DO.  I could break the word down into bite size pieces that I could remember. I compartmentalized it and the posted it everywhere that I would be using it, like my personal and business computer, the back of my cell phone and started to write it out in the way you see it in the picture over and over again.  After about a week I started to remember how to spell the word without having to look at my cheat sheet, then after a month or so I started having more success with compartmentalizing other words.  I began to win the war on my spelling dismay, which in turn made me a happier blogger, more mindful planner and gave me a sense of accomplishment I didn’t know was possible.

What challenges do you have in your life?  Are you ready to play a bigger game in the health of your body and mind.  I know you can do this!

Are you keeping your stressors in check?

check your stressors flower Are you keeping your stressors in check?Stress can be very personal.  Stress can do weird funky things to your unconscious and conscious mind.  It can show up in physical ways such as a hurting neck or even a migraine headache. There are choices we make daily that stress us out, here are few ways you can make sure your stressors are kept at bay.

Are you easily annoyed?
Want to increase your coping skills with things that annoy you?  Try this:
Reflect on what is actually going on.  Is it really something that needs to be given such a heavy dose of attention? Start to bring your attention back to yourself, briefly shut your eyes and take 3 to 4 slow deep breaths.

Are you incorporating daily activities that reduce stress for health benefits?
This includes walking, yoga and meditation.  Doing work daily is what keeps us going as well oiled living beings.  it’s better to do a little every other day than nothing at all.  Starting somewhere is where to start.  Sit down with a calendar and plan on incorporating 20 minutes a day for each daily activity.

Are you making healthy swap outs?

  • Try switching a common family practice like regular trips to the ice cream stand with a healthier option such as making this banana ice cream at home.
  • Swap out a weekend BBQ for a weekend workshop retreat for wellness (yoga).
  • Swap out typical dinner celebratory events with a healthy fun event like glow in the dark mini golf, bowling, seeing a local band or playing cards at home.
  • Treating your body with good healthy choices can add up.  Especially if you decide to incorporate and plan for your health like with this massage package.  When you start to incorporate good healthy choices regularly you tend to push out the ones that don’t work well for you.  I did this when I started to convert to not drinking cows milk and almond and coconut milk instead.  I haven’t bought a gallon of milk in over 3 years but I do drink cow’s milk in my dunkin donuts coffee and eat food made with it when I am at a friends home or restaurant.
It’s all about incorporating small healthy changes in your daily life!

What change will you make this week?  Go grab your planner, calendar, Ipad or smart phone and set ONE goal that is attainable and easy to accomplish.  You got this!  Pop on over to my facebook page and let me know what you have done to make a change.  I can’t wait to hear your results!!
